Snow’s gone, motivation’s loading… and a buy one get one half price offer
We’re into the second week of January already and the snow has gone, thankfully! We did enjoy it while it lasted, but it definitely made getting to work a bit of a headache. The rain has done its job and cleared it away, and we’re back to something a bit more normal now, around 9°C here in the Midlands.
Now it’s time to properly get going again.
I’m not going to lie, motivation has felt a bit tricky this week. Maybe the snow slowed everything down and my brain hasn’t caught up yet, but I just can’t seem to get fully in gear. The funny thing is, I have been busy. I’ve been practising my drawing a lot. I know it won’t become amazing overnight, but that perfectionist part of me still wants everything to be “right” straight away. I’m still learning to let it be about enjoying the process… and I actually am enjoying it. Honest!

A new idea: a rugby coach trophy
I’ve got a product idea in my head that I’m really excited about: a rugby ball trophy to be gifted to coaches at the end of the season.
The idea is a rugby ball sitting on a tee so it can stand on a desk, but it could also work as a wall piece without the tee, depending on how someone wants to display it. I’ve been doodling and I’ve got a rough outline down, so this week I’m going to start making some samples and seeing how it looks in real life.
Style-wise, I’ve decided I want it to feel clean and crisp, similar to our football coach plaque style, rather than a looser hand-drawn effect. I think it’ll make it feel more timeless and gift-ready, the kind of thing you can picture being proudly put on a shelf or hung up at home.
A quieter workshop, but good feedback
It’s naturally a bit quiet for us at the moment. Q4 is always our busiest period, so January tends to feel calmer and there aren’t as many products being made day to day.
That said, we’ve had some really lovely feedback on our hand-drawn house keyrings, which has been so encouraging. I think we’re going to explore developing these more over the next few weeks, and potentially create matching Christmas tree ornaments too, so they can become something people bring out every year as part of their decorations.
Tomorrow: IKEA (wish me luck)
Tomorrow we’re off to IKEA. Sam loves an IKEA trip, whereas I do not. 😅
Although I will admit, the meatballs are hard to beat.
We’re mainly going for organisation boxes to help speed up and tidy up our process a bit in the workshop. IKEA can be great value for that sort of thing, and anything that makes packing and fulfilment smoother is always a win.

A special custom order we loved making
This week we’re also really thankful for a special Etsy order from Kelly.
Kelly is celebrating her son’s dedication at church, and she got in touch after seeing our wedding coasters online. She wanted custom coasters to use as party favours, and she sent over a design she had in mind. Of course we were more than happy to help, we love making pieces that are personal and meaningful.
We’ve made them exactly to her design, and we’re genuinely really happy with how they came out. Here’s a quick photo of what she requested and what we made. Kelly, we really hope you love them!
A quick reminder: our BOGOF half price offer
Before I finish, a quick heads-up that we’ve got a special offer running on the website at the moment: Buy One, Get One Half Price.
It’s genuinely one of our best offers of the year because you could treat yourself to a second watch or bracelet for half price, or grab a second gift for someone else and save a bit along the way. It also includes other wooden gifts across our range.
So if you’ve got a birthday, celebration, or gifting occasion coming up, now’s a great time to make the most of it. The offer should run until around the 20th of the month, and the discount is applied automatically at checkout.
That’s us for this week. Hope your January is off to a good start, even if it’s taking a moment to get back into the swing of things. 💛
